The book, Claims of Innocence: An introduction to wrongful convictions and how they might be challenged’ was written by Empowering the Innocent (ETI) Director, Dr Michael Naughton (with Gabe Tan).
It provides an overview of the causes of wrongful convictions, information on the criminal appeals system and the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), and a useful framework for how alleged wrongful convictions might be challenged and overturned.
An indication of its usefulness in understanding and challenging alleged wrongful convictions is that it has been downloaded over 30,000 times in the last five year.
